The DMV Internet Website
DMVs Internet website at dmv.ca.gov is available to anyone in the entire world with Internet access. It contains at least three methods of accessing information.

The tabs across the top are the major information categories available. The Home tab is highlighted in blue. As you mouse over each tab, the tab turns blue and the links to the information available under that tab appear in the blue bar below the tabs. Clicking on the tab displays the home page for that tab’s information. A click on any of the links takes you directly to corresponding information. Links to the same information are also found
in the Save Time. Go Online! computer monitor graphic on the left side of the page, and
in the Quick Links boxes.
The Offices tab links to office locations/maps, business hours, and services available for field, driver safety, and investigations offices.
The Online Services tab links to the services shown in the Quick Links and the Save Time. Go Online! computer monitor graphic plus simple refunds, occupational license status information, mobile home registration renewal, voter registration, and online traffic citation payments.
The Forms tab and quick links take you to checklists of required forms for common driver license and vehicle registration transactions. Various categories of general use forms (vehicle registration, driver license, boat/vessel, and accident involvement forms, for example) display links and information. Forms used by participants in the International Registration Plan (IRP) Program, the Employer Pull Notice Program, DMV’s occupational licensees, and vehicle registration industry are available.
The Driver License tab and quick links provide information on driver license and identification card applications, teen and senior drivers, written and driving tests, fraud and identity theft, voter registration, change of address, organ donor registration, bicycle rules and safety, and much more.
Using the Vehicle Registration tab or quick links will take you to information on changing vehicle ownership, registration renewals, special interest plates, alternative fuel vehicles, fees, smog certifications, insurance requirements, and off-highway vehicle information. The Vehicle Registration home page also contains a link to the Industry Tools home page where members of the vehicle industry can find publications, form, services, and data required for them to do business with the DMV. They can also subscribe to the E-Mail Alert program to be notified of updates to items linked to the page.
The Publications tab and quick links provide links to the California Driver Handbook (in nine languages), various other driver handbooks and guides, sample tests, the Vehicle Code, Fast Facts and How To brochures, Occupational Licensing and Vehicle Industry News memos, DMV news releases, various research publications, and more.
The DMV Info tab and Other Services Quick Links box provide links to research studies, customer surveys, recent legislation with significant impact on the department, and information on various DMV programs such as Motor Carrier Permit, Government Requester Accounts, and reviewing and commenting on proposed changes to DMV regulations.
These buttons link to the Governor’s and Business, Transportation, and Housing Secretary’s websites, and to DMV Director George Valverde’s biographical sketch
Announcements or links to new/special information are located below the tab information.
You can find answers to the most frequently asked questions by selecting an item from the How do I… drop down menu.
In addition to the information in the Quick Link boxes discussed above, special links will sometimes display below the boxes, for example, a link to the Amber Alert website.
