Sacramento —The five-week closure for renovations at the Hollywood-Cole DMV office – originally planned for June 19 through July 27 -- has been postponed for three weeks. The office will now close at noon on Fri, July 10, 2009 and reopen on Mon., Aug. 24, 2009, the department announced today.

The delay stems from additional time needed to complete renovations for the 49-year old office, which include replacing the facility’s air conditioning system, flooring, and much more. Funding for the repairs come from the department’s Motor Vehicle Account and not from the general fund monies.

The 37 full and part-time employees who work in the Hollywood-Cole office will be moved to neighboring offices in Glendale, Lincoln Park, Van Nuys, Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Culver City --where customers will be re-directed as well.

Editor’s note: The department appreciates any media assistance to update readers, viewers or listeners about the change in plans for the Hollywood-Cole office closure.
