New Information

The Department of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) Occupational License Information System (OLIS) currently provides licensure information for driving schools. To access OLIS, go to DMV's homepage at www.dmv.ca.gov. Select Vehicle Industry & Commercial Permits, then go to Occupational Licensing, and choose Driving School License Status Information. OLIS is being enhanced to provide additional licensing information to consumers for the following Occupational License (OL) business licenses:

  • All Terrain Vehicle Training Organizations
  • Dismantlers
  • Distributors
  • Lessor-Retailer
  • Manufacturers
  • Registration Services
  • Remanufacturers
  • Traffic Violator Schools
  • Transporters
  • Vehicle Dealers
  • Vessel Agents

This information is tentatively scheduled to be available online July 2006.

Background

The OLIS currently provides licensure information on driving schools only. In DMV's effort to improve customer service, additional OL firms will be added to OLIS.
