Child Passenger Seat Restraints: Information Requirements

27363.5.  (a) ( )1 A public or private hospital, clinic, or birthing center, shall, at the time of the discharge of a child provide and discuss information on the current law requiring child passenger restraint systems, safety belts, and the transportation of children in rear seats to the parents or the person to whom the child is released ( )2if the child is under eight years of age.

(b) A public or private hospital, clinic, or birthing center shall not be responsible for the failure of the parent or person to whom the child is released to ( )3properly transport the child.

The 2011 amendment added the italicized material, and at the point(s) indicated, deleted the following:
1. "Every"
2. "when at least one of the following conditions is met:
(1) The child is less than six years of age.
(2) The child weighs less than 60 pounds."
3. "use a child passenger restraint system."
4. "(c) This section shall become operative on January 1, 2002."
