DMV Offers Saturday Service at Three Additional Field Offices
Salinas Field Office to Open July 7
Salinas- The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will open the Salinas field office two Saturdays a month beginning in July in an attempt to ease customer wait times. Salinas is one of three additional offices offering Saturday service in July on top of the 40 offices that will open on two Saturdays in June. Beginning in July, the 43 offices will be open on the first and third Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Behind-the-wheel exams will not be available on Saturdays.
To view the complete list of offices, visit the Saturday service webpage.
Saturday appointments are recommended but not necessary. They can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance using the DMV’s website or calling 1-800-777-0133.
Customers applying for a REAL ID should visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov to make sure they have the required documents to apply for the federal compliant driver license or identification (ID) card. All REAL ID applicants must visit a DMV field office.
The DMV offers many online services at www.dmv.ca.gov that can save a trip to a field office. Online services include: renewing a driver license or ID card (not available for REAL ID), paying registration fees, completing a notice of transfer and release of liability, ordering personalized license plates, adding or removing an affidavit of non-use from a vehicle on your record and requesting a driver or vehicle record.
Customers renewing their vehicle registration can avoid visiting the DMV by using the DMV Now Self-Service Terminal, which prints a new registration card and license plate tag on the spot. These convenient kiosks are available in 60 field offices, 39 grocery stores and at the University of California, Irvine.
AAA offices offer its members registration renewal services, and other Registration Service Business Partners can also process vehicle registration renewals and other vehicle registration related transactions for a fee.
