FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 20, 2019

DMV Stanton Driver License Processing Center Closing September 7

New office scheduled to open in mid-2020

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is alerting customers that the Driver License Processing Center located at 12645 Beach Blvd. in Stanton is closing at 5 p.m. September 7. The office’s lease is expiring and is not being renewed. The DMV is working to open a replacement office at a nearby location in mid-2020.

“We appreciate our customers’ understanding as we transition to a new Driver License Processing Center to serve the people of Orange County,” DMV Director Steve Gordon said. “We are doing everything in our power to ensure the surrounding offices will have all their service windows fully staffed to prepare for the increase in customers.”

Like the Stanton location, the replacement Driver Licenses Processing Center opening in mid-2020 will only handle driver license and identification card transactions, making it an ideal location to apply for a REAL ID.

Starting October 1, 2020, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will require passengers to show a valid passport or other federally approved document, like a REAL ID driver license or identification card, to board flights within the United States and access secure federal facilities and military bases.

“If your license or identification card expires between now and October 2020, we recommend that you wait to apply for your REAL ID at the time of your renewal,” Director Gordon said. “If your card expires after October 2020, we recommend you choose a convenient time to apply before the federal enforcement date begins.”

To apply for a REAL ID driver license or identification card, Californians must visit a DMV office and bring the following documents:

  • One Proof of Identity – Original or Certified (examples: valid passport, birth certificate)
  • One Proof of Social Security Number
  • Two Proofs of California Residency – Paper Copies (examples: utility bill, bank statement)

For a complete list of acceptable documents, visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov. Customers are encouraged to fill out the online driver license application before their office visit at eDLapp.dmv.ca.gov.
