Three Million Registration Renewals using Touch Screen Terminals

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that there are now 50 DMV field offices with Self-Service Terminals (SSTs). An additional 15 DMV field offices recently received the blue and yellow terminals.

“This machine helps customers who don't have access to the Internet or need their registration tags immediately" said DMV Director Jean Shiomoto. "Our customers will receive their new registration and sticker within minutes without an appointment."

The SSTs are designed for customers to get vehicle registration cards and tags instantly. Customer need to bring in the renewal notice DMV sends in the mail or their current registration card. The easy to use touch screen monitor accepts payments by cash, electronic check, credit, or debit card. The SST is as easy to use as an ATM and is available in English and Spanish.
