California Launches New Veteran Driver License and ID Card Program 

Veterans can apply for “Veteran” designation beginning November 12

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) announce a new program honoring our Veterans by allowing qualified servicemen and servicewomen to apply for a "Veteran" designation on California driver licenses and identification cards.

Frank Alvarez, Deputy Director and Chief of Investigations, DMV
Chris Bingham, Veterans Service Officer, Sonoma County  

Background:

Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) authored Assembly Bill 935, allowing California Veterans to apply for a driver license or identification card that identifies them as a “Veteran.” Interested Veterans may begin applying for this designation on November 12, 2015. Detailed information about how Veterans may obtain the new “Veteran” designation will be available at the press conference.
