Temporary San Marcos Office to Close March 30
New Office will Provide all DMV Services
Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is alerting local customers that the temporary San Marcos field office, located at 1706 Descanso Avenue, will close to the public on March 30. This transitional office opened in 2014 after the Escondido field office closed and the new facility, at 590 Rancheros Drive, was being built.
The new office currently processes only registration transactions, but will begin processing driver license transactions starting April 4, 2016, after the temporary office closes.
The nearly 30,000 square foot building houses an Industry Business Center (IBC), a Departmental Training Branch office to train DMV employees in the region, and the field office.
The eco-friendly facility incorporates sustainable building materials, drought-tolerant native landscaping, and water and energy efficient building systems. It is expected to be awarded a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) New Construction Gold Certification. LEED is a green building certification program that recognizes the best building strategies and practices.
Customers can visit the Oceanside or Poway field offices for driver license services the afternoon of Wednesday, March 30, and all day on Friday, April 1. Employees from the temporary office will join the staff at the new San Marcos field office.
