Imperial Valley residents to enjoy a larger facility and parking lot

Brawley – The California Department of Motor Vehicles showcased its new Brawley field office during a grand opening ceremony today. The office, located at 173 West Main Street, provides Imperial Valley customers with a larger facility to conduct DMV business and more onsite parking.

DMV Director Steve Gordon welcomed state and local leaders, and other community members who attended a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The DMV is excited to open a modern, open-concept field office in Brawley, where we’ve served customers since 1979,” said Gordon. “The hard-working team here completes as many as 5,500 and 6,500 vehicle registration and driver’s license transactions each month and helps hundreds of customers each day.”

The new office, which opened to the public earlier this month, replaces a DMV facility that was at 1175 East Main Street and permanently closed on November 12. The new 5,280-square-foot office features improved heating and air conditioning, better ventilation, and a larger onsite parking lot. The parking lot at the former field office was across the street, causing safety concerns.

Brawley’s field office is open Monday through Friday for all DMV services, including testing and licensing services. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The DMV reminds customers that many service transactions, such as vehicle registration and driver’s license renewals, and changing an address can be completed at dmv.ca.gov/online. Californians also can save time by filling out the online driver’s license application, including for REAL ID, before they visit a field office. Customers may also upload required REAL ID documents beforehand to save time during the office visit.
