{"id":13891,"date":"2020-04-15T15:26:05","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T22:26:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/renewals\/renewal-with-an-original-personalized-or-year-of-manufacture-yom-license-plate-application\/"},"modified":"2024-08-26T16:24:47","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T23:24:47","slug":"renewal-with-an-original-personalized-or-year-of-manufacture-yom-license-plate-application","status":"publish","type":"dmv_handbook","link":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/renewals\/renewal-with-an-original-personalized-or-year-of-manufacture-yom-license-plate-application\/","title":{"rendered":"10.170 Renewal With an Original Personalized or Year of Manufacture (YOM) License Plate Application"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An original personalized or Year of Manufacture (YOM) License Plate application may be combined with the renewal application.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following must be submitted:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The renewal notice or prior year registration card for the vehicle.<\/li><li>The usual requirements for the type of license plate ordered for personalized or YOM License Plate application processing in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/special-plates\/\">Chapter 21<\/a>.<\/li><li>The license plates currently assigned to the vehicle.<\/li><li>The renewal fees and special license plate fee.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The procedures below must be followed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Issue a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/permits-and-decals\/temporary-operating-permit-top-reg-19f\/\">Temporary Operating Permit (REG 19)<\/a>, as shown in Chapter 25.<\/li><li><strong>If a Personalized License Plate is Requested:<\/strong><ul><li>Assign the personalized license plate to the vehicle.
