{"id":14086,"date":"2020-04-15T15:28:23","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T22:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/nonresident-vehicles\/lost-applications\/"},"modified":"2024-03-13T12:17:25","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T19:17:25","slug":"lost-applications","status":"publish","type":"dmv_handbook","link":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/nonresident-vehicles\/lost-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"12.075 Lost Applications (VC \u00a71651)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reconstruct any nonresident registration application (clearing or suspense) that is lost after being sent to DMV headquarters and issue certificates with the least possible inconvenience to the customer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following must be submitted:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/application-for-title-or-registration-reg-343-pdf\/\">REG 343 (PDF)<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evidence of the original transaction (receipt, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/verification-of-vehicle-reg-31-pdf\/\">REG 31 (PDF)<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A photocopy of the REG 51 or the operating copy, if vehicle was sold by a dealer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The odometer disclosure statement, Vehicle\/Vessel Transfer and Reassignment Form (REG 262), or photocopy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For commercial vehicles, a photocopy or carbon copy of the weight certificate. If a copy is not available, but the vehicle weight can be determined from a breakdown of the fees paid, accept a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/statement-of-facts-reg-256-pdf\/\">REG 256 (PDF)<\/a> certifying to the unladen weight of the vehicle&nbsp;<strong>in lieu of<\/strong>&nbsp;a new weight certificate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A smog inspection, if needed.
