{"id":14185,"date":"2020-04-15T15:29:43","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T22:29:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/commercial-vehicles\/housecars\/"},"modified":"2024-03-12T11:55:17","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T18:55:17","slug":"housecars","status":"publish","type":"dmv_handbook","link":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/commercial-vehicles\/housecars\/","title":{"rendered":"13.065 Housecars (VC \u00a7362)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A housecar is a motor vehicle originally designed, or permanently altered, and equipped for human habitation, or to which a camper has been <strong>permanently <\/strong>attached. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Motorhomes, pickups with a camper attached, and van campers <strong>are <\/strong>housecars for registration purposes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Truck tractors with living quarters and horse trailers with an area equipped for human habitation are <strong>not<\/strong> housecars and <strong>cannot <\/strong>be registered as such.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the usual registration documents required, the application <strong>must <\/strong>include a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/miscellaneous-certifications-reg-256a-pdf\/\">Miscellaneous Certifications (REG 256A) (PDF)<\/a> form with the Certification of Vehicle for Human Habitation section completed to determine the type of housecar being registered.
