The HUD data plate will verify the: manufacturer\u2019s name, trade\/model name, year of manufacture, SN, and HUD construction code label and zone.<br>\n<\/td>\n      <\/tr>\n<\/tbody><\/table>\n<\/figure>\n<\/body>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Both trailer types have a plate indicating the Manufacturer\/Model\/Year\/VIN or SN as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n<body><figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table border=\"1\"><tbody>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"col\">Type<br>\n<\/th>\n        <th scope=\"col\">Size<br>\n<\/th>\n        <th scope=\"col\">Material<br>\n<\/th>\n        <th scope=\"col\">Location<br>\n<\/th>\n      <\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Type\n<\/span>Park Trailer<br>\n<\/td>\n        <td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Size\n<\/span>Usually 2\u201d x 4\u201d<br>\n<\/td>\n        <td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Material\n<\/span>Adhesive or metal<br>\n<\/td>\n        <td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Location\n<\/span>Near the electrical panel.<br>\n<\/td>\n      <\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Type\n<\/span>Manufactured Home<br>\n<\/td>\n        <td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Size\n<\/span>8 1\/2\u201d x 11\u201d to 8 1\/2\u201d x 14\u201d<br>\n<\/td>\n        <td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Material\n<\/span>Adhesive or metal<br>\n<\/td>\n        <td><span class=\"mobile-title\">Location\n<\/span>Inside the home, near the main electrical breaker box, usually in a nearby cabinet.<br>\n<\/td>\n      <\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"4\"><span class=\"mobile-title\">Type\n<\/span>\n<strong>Important:<\/strong> Park trailers do not qualify for PTI registration and are subject to annual registration fees.<br>\n<\/td>\n      <\/tr>\n<\/tbody><\/table>\n<\/figure>\n<\/body>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to regular or nonresident park trailer registration requirements, <strong>the applicant must<\/strong> submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/statement-of-facts-reg-256-pdf\/\">Statement of Facts (REG 256) (PDF)<\/a> form stating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cThis unit being registered is an ANSI park trailer and contains XX square feet and is XX feet in width at the maximum horizontal projection.\u201d Cannot exceed 400 square feet of gross floor space, not counting attached porches, and cannot exceed 14 feet in width at the maximum horizontal projection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How they determined that the trailer is a ANSI park trailer (for example, the ANSI data plate was present on the trailer at one time, but fell off during transport) if no data plate is identified in the Comments Section of the REG 31 and the gross floor space is less than 400 square feet. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The trailer must be moved by permit, so normally DMV will not be completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/verification-of-vehicle-reg-31-pdf\/\">Verification of Vehicle (REG 31) (PDF)<\/a> form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span role=\"region\" class=\"format-label--note\"><span class=\"format-label__text\">Note<\/span> Many manufacturers make park trailers just under the 400 square feet size restriction (for example 396 square feet), and a manufactured home can be as little as 320 square feet; therefore, it is important to locate the identifying data.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> <strong>Park Trailer Boats<\/strong> (body type model CCHPTBT)\u2014A trailer with a hull which may be registered as a vehicle\/vessel (dual registration). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Trailer Coaches (VC \u00a7635)<\/strong> (body type model CCH)\u2014A vehicle, other than a motor vehicle, designed for human occupancy or human habitation for industrial, professional, or commercial purposes, for carrying persons and property on its own structure, and for being drawn by a motor vehicle. A trailer coach <strong>cannot<\/strong> exceed 8 1\/2 feet (102 inches) in width <strong>or<\/strong> 40 feet (480 inches) in length.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel trailers and\/or fifth-wheel travel trailers (VC \u00a7\u00a7242 and 636) that exceed the maximum length and\/or width requirements for a camp trailer are trailer coaches (body type model CCH) and cannot be registered under the PTI program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span role=\"region\" class=\"format-label--note\"><span class=\"format-label__text\">Note<\/span> Converter gears and auxiliary dollies may be registered under the PTI program, but it is not required. The maximum length limitation for fifth-wheel trailer coaches is 48 feet (576 inches) and the maximum width is 8 1\/2 feet (102 inches). Fifth-wheel travel trailers that do not exceed any of the following lengths may be registered, regardless of the date first sold or operated:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All: 48 feet in length from the kingpin point of the trailer to the rear extremity of the trailer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Single-axle: 38 feet in length from the kingpin to the rearmost axle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two or more axles: 40 feet in length from the kingpin to the rearmost axle. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span role=\"region\" class=\"format-label--note\"><span class=\"format-label__text\">Note<\/span> A kingpin is the main vertical bolt that locks the fifth-wheel to the semi-tractor or pickup truck.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For original registration of a travel trailer that exceeds 40 feet (480 inches), but does not exceed 48 feet (576 inches), <strong>the applicant must submit:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All regular registration requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/file\/statement-of-facts-reg-256-pdf\/\">Statement of Facts (REG 256)  (PDF)<\/a>form, which describes the vehicle and lists the length in Section G.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":14254,"menu_order":7,"template":"","dmv_task":[11],"dmv_functional_page_type":[64],"dmv_handbook_category":[919,595],"class_list":["post-14275","dmv_handbook","type-dmv_handbook","status-publish","hentry","dmv_task-educational","dmv_functional_page_type-informational","dmv_handbook_category-permanent-trailer-identification-pti","dmv_handbook_category-vehicle-industry-reg-procedures-manual"],"featured_image_src":null,"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
