{"id":35344,"date":"2020-05-12T14:34:40","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T21:34:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/?post_type=dmv_handbook&#038;p=35344"},"modified":"2026-11-02T14:21:03","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T22:21:03","slug":"chapter-12-additional-information","status":"publish","type":"dmv_handbook","link":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/irp\/chapter-12-additional-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Chapter 12: Additional Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>12.000 &#8211; TEMPORARY REGISTRATION AUTHORIZATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New IRP fleet vehicles or vehicles being added to an existing fleet may be issued Temporary Registration Authorization (TRA) only if all fees are paid.\u00a0 The TRA is issued for a specific vehicle and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.\u00a0 It may not be issued to accounts that are not in good standing or for renewal vehicles (see exceptions below). TRA&#8217;s can be obtained from the IRP Operations located at DMV headquarters in Sacramento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exceptions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A vehicle that is California Air Resources Board (CARB) non-compliant due to CARB&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.arb.ca.gov\/our-work\/programs\/truck-and-bus-regulation\">Truck and Bus Regulation<\/a> (SB1) and <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.arb.ca.gov\/our-work\/programs\/CTC\">Clean Truck Check Program<\/a> (SB 210) may be eligible for a <strong>one-time<\/strong> 60 day TRA. An IRP fleet <strong>cannot<\/strong> be renewed and issued credentials if there are CARB non-compliant vehicle(s) in the fleet. The CARB non-compliant vehicle(s) must be deleted from the fleet to complete the renewal without meeting CARB compliance. Customers may delete their vehicles(s) by one (1) of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Checking the box on the Non-Compliant Vehicle Delete Form included with the renewal documentation and submit to IRP Operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marking &#8220;Delete (D)&#8221; next to the vehicles(s) outline on the Schedule C form (MC 2118 I) and submit to IRP Operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>12.005 &#8211; CHANGE OF ADDRESS (CVC SECTION 4159)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Registrants must notify DMV within 10 days when they move or acquire a new address that is different from the address on their IRP account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You must submit the following items when changing the business address (physical address):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A California IRP Carrier Data &#8211;
