Online service is a great resource for transportation-related businesses to monitor drivers<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sacramento<\/strong> \u2013 The DMV now offers a faster way for businesses to check that their employees have clean driving records using the new online Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Service<\/a>. This digital option allows commercial<\/a> and government<\/a> employers to receive information about their employee drivers quickly, as well as instantly update driver rosters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe digital Pull Notice Service saves time and improves safety, while reducing paper and eliminating postage costs,\u201d said DMV Director Steve Gordon. \u201cWe continue to improve the way we deliver services that is convenient for our customers and makes good business sense for Californians.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This latest digital offering from the DMV \u2013 which has more than doubled the number of online transactions over the past few years \u2013 provides employers a paperless option for the state\u2019s driver monitoring program, which previously could only be done by mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does EPN work?<\/strong> Certain employers are required to enroll their drivers in the program. These employers apply online to receive driver records electronically. The DMV will provide the record for each driver enrolled in the EPN program to determine whether the individual has a valid driver\u2019s license and is authorized to drive certain types of vehicles. The DMV also offers employers an annual report for each driver and provides reports automatically when employees are involved in traffic convictions, suspensions or collisions throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Completing the online application takes only minutes, and DMV representatives are available to help if needed. Employers must pay a $5 fee per driver to enroll in the EPN program. The cost to request a driver record electronically is $2, compared to $5 by mail. Records generated automatically based on reportable activity or a new annual report will be $1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is using digital better?<\/strong> Digital is faster, more secure and helps protect the environment. Paper applications mailed though the U.S. postal service may experience varied delivery times and there are postage costs. Manually processing the documents takes longer, and the digital process eliminates the unnecessary use of paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
