The Driver Safety Branch of the California DMV incorporated a timesaving application that automates processing for 20,000 unsafe driver cases each month and the administration of about 1.4 million sanctions each year throughout the state.

The Driver, Attorney, and Law Enforcement portals are self\u2011service tools which allow law enforcement, drivers, and attorneys to submit information, schedule appointments, and upload documents.

How the DMV Helps Californians Recover from Disasters<\/strong>
Informative Writing \u2013 Regional Award

The DMV Office of Public Affairs wrote an article focused on how DMV disaster response teams helped survivors of the 2025 southern California wildfires get back on the road to recovery.

Team members helped replace driver\u2019s licenses, identification cards, and vehicle registrations destroyed in the flames\u2014vital documents needed to get services and file insurance claims. Armed with laptop computers, printers, and a camera, the teams assisted 9,562 wildfire survivors and completed 6,538 transactions.
