What is a Rush Title?
A rush title is an expedited California Certificate of Title processing for an additional fee.
When can I use the Rush Title Process?
You can use the rush title process for initial registration of a vehicle, transfer of ownership, or to obtain a duplicate California Certificate of Title.
When Does the Processing Time Begin for the Rush Title Request?
The rush title processing time begins when the application is received at Department of Motor Vehicle's (DMV) headquarters. The application must include all documents properly completed, appropriate fees, and be without conditions that prevent the issuance of a title. Normal processing time for applications sent to DMV is from 8-10 business days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays), depending upon the type of application.
Where is the Service Available?
This service is available only by mail through DMV headquarters in Sacramento. A rush title cannot be processed or accepted by a DMV field office or hand-delivered to the headquarters office.

A rush title processing fee is charged for each application.

Can I Send the Application to the DMV by Regular Mail?
Yes. The department will accept a rush title application by regular mail. Send regular mail to the address listed in the previous section and attach a note to the top of your application indicating, "Rush Title Processing."
