Sacramento - Teen drivers and their parents have a comprehensive new resource for information on getting and staying behind the wheel safely, as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) unveils a helpful, user-friendly Web site devoted specifically to the unique needs of young drivers:

Among many topics, the site provides families with resources regarding:

  • New rules affecting teen drivers in 2006
  • Requirements and restrictions of permits and provisional licenses
  • Driver education and training, including tips to help select a driving school
  • Insurance and financial responsibility
  • Drug and alcohol use, effects and consequences
  • Comprehensive study materials
  • Sample tests with full color photos
  • Advice on practicing for and passing the driving test
  • Making DMV appointments online

The site also provides links to the Parent-Teen Training Aid and the California Driver Handbook, invaluable resources for every family who has or soon will have a teen driver on the road.

The information is also easily accessed as it’s highlighted prominently on the front page of DMV’s Web site:
