MENDOTA – The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), in partnership with the City of Mendota began offering services once a week to local residents on Sept. 6, 2007, at 655 Quince Street. Hours of operation are Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The City of Mendota and DMV will be hosting a grand opening ceremony at the Quince Street location on Sept. 20, 2007 at 8 a.m.
Responding to a need to provide services to customers who live in rural Fresno County, the City of Mendota, has provided a brand new 1200 square-foot facility which will be leased by DMV for a nominal fee. There will be two work stations to serve customers which will be staffed by DMV employees from the Fresno office.
"Making these services available is designed with customer convenience in mind," said DMV Director George Valverde. "I applaud the City of Mendota for their partnership with the DMV." Director Valverde noted that Mendota residents typically would face a 45-minute commute to the nearest DMV field office in North Fresno.
DMV services to rural areas of the state are partnerships with cities and other local jurisdictions whereby a city hosts the DMV for a specified number of days per week.
Most DMV services will be offered including driver licensing, drive tests, ID cards and vehicle registration transactions. Voter registration forms will also be accepted.
Don’t Stand In Line, Go Online! Doing business with the DMV has never been easier. The DMV offers an array of services to customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through its Web site (www.dmv.ca.gov), including online appointments for written and drive tests; vehicle registration and driver license renewals, selection of personalized license plates, changes of address and payment of fees via secure debit transactions
DMV is a department under the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, which is under the direction of Secretary Dale E. Bonner. The DMV licenses drivers; maintains driving records; registers and tracks official ownership of vehicles and vessels; investigates auto and identity-related fraud; and licenses car dealers, driving schools, and traffic violator schools.
