King City – The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will officially dedicate its brand new office serving King City and surrounding communities during an 8 a.m. grand opening ceremony on September 24, 2007.
"This is a growing community and we are pleased to open a more modern and larger facility for our customers in King City," said DMV Director George Valverde.
The 4,950 square-foot office – located at 101 East San Antonio – is nearly four times the size of its North Second Street predecessor, which has been open since 1969. The new office will service approximately 40,000 customers annually with seven DMV employees. The office will not only have more office space, but will also have ample parking, a carport and a motorcycle testing area.
With energy efficiency as a priority, DMV is pursuing a LEED certification on this new facility. The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance, energy-efficient buildings. It was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, a 10,000-member non-profit trade organization, which has developed the LEED system to promote a whole-building approach to sustainability.
Dont Stand In Line, Go Online! Doing business with the DMV has never been easier. The DMV offers an array of services to customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through its Web site (www.dmv.ca.gov), including online appointments for written and drive tests; vehicle registration and driver license renewals, selection of personalized license plates, changes of address and payment of fees via secure debit transactions
DMV is a department under the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, which is under the direction of Secretary Dale E. Bonner. The DMV licenses drivers; maintains driving records; registers and tracks official ownership of vehicles and vessels; investigates auto and identity-related fraud; and licenses car dealers, driving schools, and traffic violator schools.
