Sacramento –The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today opened its first Business Services Center in Sacramento during 8 a.m. dedication ceremonies.  This facility, which has been open for business since Feb. 19, is located at 7226 Florin Mall Drive and will cater only to DMV industry customers, including automotive dealers and registration services.

“I am pleased to open a truly one-stop shop that enhances services to our industry customers,” said DMV Director, George Valverde. “This office is specially equipped to handle the multitude of transactions in an expeditious manner that our customers demand.”

Industry customers from the Carmichael, Davis, Folsom, Lodi, Sacramento, South Sacramento and Woodland areas can now bring their specialized DMV transactions in mass bundles either by mail or in person for processing to the new Sacramento-Florin Business Service Center.  The Center is projected to handle close to 450,000 vehicle registration transactions a year.

Currently, DMV has licensing files on 139,000 occupational licensees statewide ranging from car dealers, vehicle manufacturers, driving schools, sales persons, dismantlers, among others. Sacramento County alone has over 1,000 businesses that hold occupational licenses.  The Sacramento-Florin Business Service Center will also house an Occupational License Inspector office handling occupational licensing issues and needs of industry customers.

Technicians at the new Sacramento-Florin Business Service Center will be trained in specialized industry transactions, streamlining and expediting the process.

This 7,855 square-foot facility is reutilizing the former South Sacramento Field Office which moved into its new building on La Mancha Way in 2006.

Don’t Stand In Line, Go Online!Doing business with the DMV has never been easier. The DMV offers an array of services to customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through its Web site (www.dmv.ca.gov), including online appointments for written and drive tests; vehicle registration and driver license renewals, selection of personalized license plates, changes of address and payment of fees via secure debit transactions.

DMV is a department under the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, which is under the direction of Secretary Dale E. Bonner. The DMV licenses drivers; maintains driving records; registers and tracks official ownership of vehicles and vessels; investigates auto and identity-related fraud; and licenses car dealers, driving schools, and traffic violator schools.
