DMV Closes Mariposa Office in Wake of Nearby Yosemite Fire

Sacramento –California Department of Motor Vehicles has closed its office at 5629 Highway 49 North near the town of Mariposa for the remainder of this week, due to low air quality from the fast-moving “Telegraph Fire.” The office is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, August 4.
Office technicians and customers will be redirected to DMV offices in Madera and Merced. The Madera office is located at 1206 Maple Street, 50 miles away, and the Merced office is located at 1313 W. 12th St., which is located 41 miles away.
DMV officials noted that many customer transactions can be handled without an office visit simply by utilizing the departments extensive and easy-to-navigate Internet website.
