Lompoc –The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today dedicated its new Lompoc Office during “Grand Opening” ceremonies at 209 W Pine Avenue in Lompoc.

The 4060 square-foot office is much larger than its 138 N. B Street predecessor and is a remodel of the ground floor of a two-story 1960s office building. The new office – which opened May 3 to the public – will service over 60 thousand customers annually with 14 DMV employees.

“The DMV has the customer and the environment in mind when we construct new DMV facilities,” said DMV Director George Valverde.  “We are pleased to open a larger, more modern facility in the City of Lompoc.”

With energy efficiency as a priority, DMV will achieve a Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System for meeting the high standards for energy and resource conservation. The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. It was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, a 10,000 member non-profit trade organization, which has developed the LEED system to promote a whole-building approach to sustainability.
