DMV Opens Business Services Centers in Los Angeles and San Bernardino

A One Stop Shop for DMV Industry Customers

Sacramento – Designed to serve industry customers faster and more efficiently, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has opened a new Business Services Centers in Covina at 1365 Grand Avenue and in San Bernardino located at 473 East Carnegie. The new centers will serve industry customers, including automotive dealers and registration services.

“These centers are one-stop shop that enhances services to our industry customers,” said DMV Director, George Valverde. “In this economy, time is money and these offices are specially equipped to handle a multitude of transactions in an expeditious manner.”

Industry customers from the greater Los Angeles, San Bernardino area and surrounding areas can now bring their specialized DMV transactions in mass bundles either by mail or in person for processing at the new Business Service Center. Over 100,000 industry customers are expected to visit the Los Angeles Metro Business Service Center which is staffed by 60 DMV employees, while the San Bernardino Center, staffed by 17 will handle almost 250,00 vehicle registrations per year. Technicians at the new these centers will be trained in specialized industry transactions, streamlining and expediting the process.

The 22,028 square foot Los Angeles Metro Business Service Center was built with energy efficiency as a priority, and is currently registered with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. The goal of the project is to achieve the level of LEED Commercial Interiors Certification by the end of 2010. In order to achieve this certification the project team aggressively pursued energy and water savings beyond the standard required for buildings in California as well as indoor air quality. Other factors in consideration for Silver certification were the recycling of building materials during construction.

The Los Angeles Metro Business Service Center will also house a Driver Safety office making approximately 4000 customer contacts per year regarding hearings and driver’s license re-examinations.
