LODI – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today dedicated its new Lodi Office during Grand Opening ceremonies at 1222 Pixley Parkway.

The 7866 square-foot office, with 86 parking spaces is much larger than its 3404 square-foot predecessor on E. Pine Street which opened in 1965. The new office – which opened September 13 to the public – will handle over 140,000 transactions annually with 20 DMV employees.

"The DMV has the customer and the environment in mind when we construct new facilities," said DMV Director George Valverde. "We are pleased to open a larger, more modern facility in the City of Lodi."

With energy efficiency as a priority, DMV is pursuing to achieve a Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System for meeting the high standards for energy and resource conservation. Some of the LEED certification features will include skylights in the lobby, energy efficient landscaping and recycled building materials.

The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. It was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, a 10,000 member non-profit trade organization, which has developed the LEED system to promote a whole-building approach to sustainability.
