Sacramento – The Red Bluff office of the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), located at 675 Monroe St., will be closed for five weeks starting at noon on Fri., Nov. 12, 2010, for a repair and upgrade project which includes installing new flooring, interior painting and other construction work.

The easiest way to accommodate this project is to close the office completely for the duration of the repairs. The Red Bluff office is scheduled to reopen for business on Mon., Dec. 20, 2010, at 8 a.m.

DMV officials say the 21-year old office has not had any substantial work done on it since it opened in 1989. The Red Bluff facility is one of several offices slated for maintenance or repair projects during 2010. DMV usually schedules about a dozen office closures each year for varying lengths of time to make infrastructure improvements or for equipment installation.

The Red Bluff office has five full-time employees and one part-time employee who handle some 69,000 transactions each year.

DMV officials say they will carefully monitor customer flow to the surrounding offices and move technicians as needed to provide the best customer service possible during the extensive renovation process.

During the closure, Red Bluff-area DMV customers will be directed to neighboring offices in:

  • Redding, 2135 Civic Center Dr., 30 miles away;
  • Chico, 500 Cohasset Rd., 40 miles away and
  • Willows, 815 N. Humboldt Ave.,47 miles away.
