Sacramento – New, Self Service Terminals designed to get vehicle registration tags and registration cards into customers' hands in a few minutes or less have been deployed at six area offices within the greater San Diego region, the Department of Motor Vehicles announced today.

"Our Internet registration renewal option is very popular and used by more than 15,000 people daily. These machines bring that same connectivity to customers who don't have access to the Internet, need registration immediately, or need to use cash," said DMV Director George Valverde. "Our customers will leave holding their new registration and sticker without an appointment and without waiting in line."

The new machines are available at the following DMV Field Office locations:

  • San Ysidro: 6111 Business Center Court, San Diego
  • San Diego-Clairemont: 4375 Derrick Drive, San Diego
  • Chula Vista: 30 N. Glover Avenue, Chula Vista
  • El Cajon: 1450 Graves Avenue, El Cajon
  • Oceanside: 4005 Plaza Drive, Oceanside
  • East Riverside: 6425 Sycamore Canyon Blvd

Using the DMV’s new Self Service Terminal is fast and easy!

The easy to use terminals with big touch screen monitor accepts payments by cash, electronic check, credit, or debit card. The terminal is much like an ATM at a bank and directions are given in English and Spanish. A seventh SST will open at the Escondido Field Office in early March.

Approximately 30 million customers visit 168 DMV field offices annually.
