NEW MOTOR VEHICLE BOARD RE-ELECTS PRESIDENT RAMON ALVAREZ C.

Sacramento – Riverside auto dealer Ramon Alvarez C. has been unanimously re–elected the president of the New Motor Vehicle Board (NMVB). Alvarez C. has been a member of the board since 2007. This is his second term as President.

Alvarez C. is the founder of Alvarez Electric Motor Company, a distribution car company for electric vehicles. Last year, he launched a Spanish-language radio program in Houston, “El Show de Don Ramon,” which provides vehicle–buying information and tips to Latino consumers.

In addition, Alvarez C. is a past board member of the California Chamber of Commerce board of directors, has served on the boards of the Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce, the Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Inland Empire Economic Partnership, Riverside Community Hospital, YMCA, March of Dimes, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Bismarck Obando, a public member of the NMVB, was also unanimously elected as the board's vice president. Obando has been on the Board since January 2011.

Obando is currently the Director of Public Affairs for the League of California Cities where he oversees the League’s Grassroots and its outreach programs. Prior to working for the League, Obando served as a member and Director of External Affairs for then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Alvarez C. and Obando will also serve as the Board’s Executive Committee.

The New Motor Vehicle Board is a part of the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and is a quasi–judicial administrative agency with independent authority to resolve disputes between franchised vehicle dealers and manufacturers of new vehicles, which include motorcycles, recreational vehicles, and all–terrain vehicles. The Board also has a Consumer Mediation Services Program to resolve disputes between consumers and new vehicle dealers and/or manufacturers.
