Shafter Field Office Closing for Renovations
Sacramento – The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced that the Shafter field office located at 528 Walker Street will close for a renovation project on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 5 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 8 a.m.
The Shafter DMV has been in its current location since 1968 and is in need of improvements to better serve the department's customers. The newly renovated office will provide increased service capacity to customers by expanding the office size from 3,300 square feet to 4,100 and adding an additional 23 parking spots.
Customers requiring in-person services will be redirected to the following nearby offices during the temporary closure:
- Bakersfield, 3120 F Street, 17 miles away
- Bakersfield Southwest, 7000 Schirra Court, 24 miles away
- Delano, 631 Jefferson Street, 24 miles away
