You need a vehicle representative license if you’re employed by a manufacturer or distributor to:
- Negotiate sales or promote the manufacturer’s/distributor’s vehicles to their franchisees.
- Supervise or contact franchisees or prospective franchisees.
How to Apply for a Vehicle Representative License
Apply for your license and pay your fees online.
To apply for your license, you will need to submit the following:
- Application for Representative License (OL 16R).
- Live scan fingerprint y Request for Live Scan Service (DMV 8016).
- A background check (form provided through DMV).
Once you’ve completed these forms and collected all documents, mail your completed application and fees to the address on the OL 16R form.

- $50 non-refundable application fee
- $1 family support program
- $50 reinstatement fee (if applicable)
How to Renew a Vehicle Representative License
Renew your license and pay your fees online.
To renew your license, complete an Application for Representative License (OL 16R) (check the “Renewal” box on the form). Mail your application and fees to the address on the form.

How to Replace, Duplicate, or Correct a Vehicle Representative License
Replace, duplicate or correct your license online.
To replace, duplicate, or correct your license, complete an Application for Replacement, Duplicate or Corrected Representative License (OL 18R). Mail your application and fees to the address on the form.
There is no fee to replace, duplicate, or correct your license.
