What you need to know: The Hemet DMV office will close temporarily for renovations on March 27 at 5 p.m. However, most customers do not have to visit an office and can do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.
Sacramento — The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the Hemet office at 1200 S. State St. will close temporarily for interior flooring replacement beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27. The office is scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20.
Until the renovations are complete, customers can visit the following area offices:
- Temecula: 27851 Diaz Road (28 miles from the Hemet office)
- Riverside East: 6425 Sycamore Canyon Blvd. (30 miles from the Hemet office)
- Redlands: 1659 W. Lugonia Ave. (34 miles from the Hemet office)
- Palm Springs: 950 N. Farrell Drive (46 miles from the Hemet office)

Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, such as eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn about options to complete DMV tasks.
Go Paperless — To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal notices, sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to opt in.
