DMV’s New “Oxnard Express” Office in Port Hueneme Opens September 2

What you need to know: The DMV is opening a new quick service office called “Oxnard Express” to the public on September 2 in the City of Port Hueneme. Most customers can save a trip to the office and do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.

Sacramento — To better serve customers in Ventura County, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will open its “Oxnard Express” office at 137 N. Ventura Road, Port Hueneme, at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. The office is located in the City of Port Hueneme but is officially called “Oxnard Express” to signify its close proximity to the larger City of Oxnard.

The office will offer limited DMV services, including accepting applications for original ID cards, but services such as applying for an original driver’s license and behind-the-wheel drive tests will need to be conducted at a full-service field office. The office will not offer appointments. Customers will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. The office will be cashless, only accepting credit and debit cards for payment.

The office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays the office will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Transactions that can be made at the office include:

  • Original and replacement ID cards
  • Driver’s license replacement with changes (address/name)
  • Driver’s license knowledge (written exam) retests
  • Commercial driver’s license medical updates/submissions
  • Duplicate vehicle titles
  • Commercial motor vehicle partial year registration (PYR)
  • Disabled person parking placards

Before Going to an Office – Try Online First!

The DMV has taken many steps to offer additional digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit, including simple self-service transactions that are no longer available in offices. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal notices, customers must sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov and then opt in.
