What you need to know: The Visalia office will close temporarily for renovations on December 26 at 5 p.m. However, most customers do not have to visit an office and can do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.
Sacramento — The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the Visalia office at 1711 E. Main St. will close temporarily to complete several upgrades, including the installation of new restroom fixtures and resurfacing part of the parking lot, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 26. The office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 20.
Until the renovations are complete, customers can visit the following area offices:
- Tulare: 274 E. Cross Ave. (17 miles from the Visalia office)
- Hanford: 701 W. Hanford Armona Road (23 miles from the Visalia office)
- Reedley: 1890 E. Dinuba Ave. (27 miles from the Visalia office)
- Porterville: 329 E. Olive Ave. (30 miles from the Visalia office)
Before Going to a DMV Office — Try Online First
Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, such as eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn about options to complete DMV tasks.
Go Paperless — To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal notices, sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to opt in.
