Popular DMV Now Self-Service Terminals Now at 100 Locations
Convenient Vehicle Registration Renewal Option Available at DMV Offices and Grocery Stores
Sacramento –The popularity of the DMV Now Self-Service Terminal (SST) has resulted in the installation of the 100th vehicle registration renewal kiosk. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) recently placed the latest touch-screen terminal inside the Safeway store at 1814 19th Street in Sacramento.
Customers have embraced the convenience of instantly renewing their vehicle registration using the touch-screen terminal. During the past year, the DMV has expanded its availability from field offices to grocery stores. They can be found at 15 Northern California and 24 Southern California grocery stores, including one at the University of California, Irvine.
The self-service kiosk is designed for customers who need their vehicle registration card and license plate tag immediately. To conduct a transaction, individuals need their vehicle registration renewal notice or their most recent vehicle registration card. Instructions are offered in English and Spanish. The kiosk can also be used by customers who have decided not to drive their vehicle and want to file for planned non-operation status.
“It’s exciting to give our customers more options to complete their DMV business,” DMV Director Jean Shiomoto said. “We will be expanding service options on the kiosks in the future.”
Since the first DMV Now SST was installed in October 2010, Californians have completed more than 6.1 million vehicle registration renewals using these convenient kiosks.
