DMV Begins Offering Saturday Hours Tomorrow
Select field offices to be open two Saturdays each month
Sacramento - Californians needing to conduct DMV business can now take advantage of convenient Saturday hours at 40 field offices beginning tomorrow. On June 16 and 23, select offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in attempt to ease weekday wait times. Behind-the-wheel exams will not be available.
Offices will transition in July to the first and third Saturday of each month, at which time, the number of field offices open on Saturday will expand to 43. Appointments are not required but always encouraged and can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance using the DMV’s website or calling 1-800-777-0133.
The following field offices offer Saturday service:
* Driver License Processing Centers only process driver license and identification card transactions.
Customers applying for a REAL ID driver license or identification card should visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov to make sure they have the required documents to apply for a federal compliant card. Individuals who choose to apply for a REAL ID must visit a DMV field office. View the full list of acceptable documents on DMV’s full list of acceptable documents website.
Individuals can avoid making a trip to a field office by using DMV’s online services at www.dmv.ca.gov. Online services allow customers to renew their driver license and ID card, pay a registration suspension fee, file a notice of transfer and release of liability, order personalized license plates, add or remove an affidavit of non-use from a vehicle on record, request a driver or vehicle record, and much more.
Customers can easily and quickly renew their vehicle registration by using a DMV Now Self-Service Terminal, which prints a new registration card and license plate tag on the spot. The kiosk is available in 60 field offices, 39 grocery stores and at the University of California, Irvine.
AAA offices offer its members registration renewal services, and other Registration Service Business Partners can also process vehicle registration renewals and other vehicle registration related transactions for a fee.
