DMV’s Coalinga Office Temporarily Closing for Renovations

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles is alerting customers that the Coalinga office at 406 East Elm Ave. will be temporarily closing for renovations beginning 5 p.m. Friday, October 27. The office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Renovations will include new flooring, paint, furniture and other improvements.

Until the renovations are complete, customers can visit the following area offices:

Customers can also visit a DMV touchscreen kiosk to complete routine DMV tasks such as renewing vehicle registration, ordering a replacement driver’s license, receiving a replacement registration card, obtaining a driver or vehicle record, and more. Information about kiosks can be found on the DMV website. The nearest kiosks are located at:

  • Hanford Foods Co.     1850 W. Lacey Blvd.                                      45 miles
  • Mendota City Hall      643 Quince St.                                                48 miles

Before Going to a Field Office or Kiosk – Try Online First!

The DMV has taken many steps to offer more digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal notices, customers must sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov and then opt in.
