The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that four million transactions have been completed on Self-Service Terminals (SSTs) since these convenient terminals were placed in the field offices in 2010. Today, customers can find an SST in 50 DMV field offices across the state.

Long Beach DMV Field Office Closing for Renovations (Oct 23, 2015)

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is alerting customers that the Long Beach DMV field office at 3700 Willow Street is closing on October 30, 2015, at noon for renovations.

Final Saturday Hours to be Offered October 24 (Oct 22, 2015)

The final day for customers to take advantage of Saturday hours will be on October 24, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) no longer needs to keep its 60 designated field offices, including the four Driver License Processing Centers, open during weekends, now that applications for original driver licenses have returned to levels that were handled prior to the January 2, 2015, implementation of Assembly Bill 60 (AB 60).

San Marcos Field Office and Industry Business Center Grand Opening Ceremony (Oct 21, 2015)

DMV Opens Second Temporary Location to Assist Valley Fire Victims (Oct 2, 2015)

Valley Fire victims living in Lake, Napa, and Sonoma Counties can now receive California Department of Motor Vehicle assistance at a second temporary Disaster Recovery Center located at the DMV satellite office located at 14884 Olympic Drive in Clearlake. The center opens today, October 2, 2015, and will remain in operation until further notice.

New Traffic Ticket Amnesty Program Starts October 1 (Oct 1, 2015)

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) wants to inform customers about a new amnesty program designed to assist qualified drivers with paying unpaid traffic or non-traffic infraction tickets, by reducing fines by 50 or 80 percent. The 18-month long Traffic Tickets/Infractions Amnesty Program begins October 1, 2015.

AB 60 Regulations Approved (Dec 4, 2014)

On Monday, December 1, 2014, the Office of Administrative Law approved the emergency regulations to implement Assembly Bill 60 (Statutes 2013, chapter 524). These regulations define the categories of documents DMV will accept to verify the identity and California residence of future AB 60 applicants.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that a DMV Investigations case has led to criminal charges against an Antioch car dealer for odometer tampering. On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, California Car Sales owner George Guevara was charged with 79 criminal counts including conspiracy to commit grand theft, odometer tampering, and theft by false pretenses. He made an agreement with the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office to self-surrender to the court.

DMV Investigators Make Arrest for Odometer Tampering (Feb 27, 2014)

On Thursday, February 27, 2014, Alberto Navarro Zapata, 27 was arrested in Stockton for odometer tampering, theft by false pretenses, and acting as an unlicensed car dealer. Zapata resisted arrest and was eventually apprehended by a Stockton Police K9 unit. He is being held at the San Joaquin County jail on a warrant with a bail amount of $55,000.
