New DMV Spanish Speaking Answerman Educates and Entertains

"El Sabelotodo del DMV" Builds on Success of Award-Winning Online Video Series

SACRAMENTO — Building on the growing popularity of DMV's quirky answer man, the California Department of Motor Vehicles introduces a new suave teacher for Spanish speaking drivers called "El Sabelotodo del DMV," which translates into the "Mr. Know-It-All of DMV."

El Sabelotodo is a sophisticated, worldly, and cultured character who answers frequently asked DMV questions in an entertaining way by mixing humor with important instructional information that makes learning fun and interesting. In the video series, not only is El Sabelotodo an expert about DMV issues, he seems to know a lot about other things, such as cooking, mountain climbing, music and saving lives! In the first video, he explains how to obtain a California driver license. Click for video.

The DMV expects El Sabelotodo to be as successful as his eccentric English speaking counterpart who debuted on DMV's YouTube Channel in October 2012.

"DMV's award-winning Answerman video series has received more than 83,000 views and we hope El Sabelotodo del DMV will generate as much interest among our Spanish-speaking customers," said DMV Director Jean Shiomoto. "We are always looking for innovative ways to provide information to our customers, and this is just one more way to deliver it."

The El Sabelotodo video series was written, produced and edited by DMV staff. DMV plans on releasing three El Sabelotodo del DMV videos before 2015.
