24.095 Notice of Sale of Vessel Registrations (CVC §9911)

The seller of a vessel must notify DMV of the sale within five calendar days by submitting a Notice of Release of Liability (REG 138) form by mail or online. The REG 138 must be forwarded directly to DMV or auto club, not to a dealer or vessel agent (CVC §9905). Auto clubs are authorized agents for DMV.
